MEHMET KAPLAN’DAN HATIRALAR MEKTUPLAR KİTABINA DAİR BİR İNCELEME

Abstract

Bilim insanlarının mektup ve hatıraları, genç araştırmacılara içten bir söyleyişle sundukları bilgiler bakımından değerli belgelerdir. Alanında başarılı kimselerin gündelik yaşamlarından kesitler sunan, dönemin önemli kültürel olayları ve eserlerinden söz eden bu kaynaklar tarihe tanıklık etmektedir. Bu çalışmada Yeni Türk Edebiyatı alanının önemli isimlerinden Orhan Okay’ın “Mehmet Kaplan’dan Hatıralar Mektuplar” adlı kitabı incelenmektedir. Mektuplar ve okurla paylaşılan anılar, Mehmet Kaplan’ın ve Orhan Okay’ın idealleri uğruna sergiledikleri çabaları yansıtırken hem akademisyen kimliğinin vazgeçilmez ilkelerini hem de iyi bir eser kaleme almanın ön koşullarını yansıtması bakımından özellikle genç araştırmacılar için rehber niteliğindedir. Mehmet Kaplan, asistanı Orhan Okay’a mektuplarında yerli ve yabancı kaynaklardan söz ederken dönemin sanatsal ve kültürel faaliyetleri hakkında önemli bilgiler aktarır. Şiir, musiki, psikoloji, tarih, felsefe gibi farklı alanlardan beslenen ve zengin bir kültüre sahip olan Kaplan, mektuplarında çeşitli dergilerin ve kitapların yayımlanma serüvenlerini anlatır. Orhan Okay, hocasının mektuplarına dair yazdığı açıklamalar ve notlarla okurun mektuplarda adı geçen kişileri tanımasına ve olayları kavramasına büyük katkı sağlar. Bilim insanı ve hocalık kimliğinin inşa edilişi hususunda Mehmet Kaplan ve Orhan Okay ilişkisini samimiyetle aktaran mektuplar, önemli bir ekolün temsilcisi olan akademisyenlerin iç dünyasına ışık tutmaktadır. Bu çalışmada “Mehmet Kaplan’dan Hatıralar Mektuplar” adlı kitapta yer alan sanatsal ve kültürel olaylar, eserler tespit edilirken Mehmet Kaplan ve Orhan Okay’ın bilim insanı ve eğitimci kimliğinin inşasında etkili olan isimlere dikkat çekilmektedir. Felsefe, edebiyat gibi alanların önemli şahsiyetlerine yer verilen mektuplarda dönemin kültür atmosferinin nasıl yansıtıldığı ele alınmaktadır.

Letters and memoirs of scholars are invaluable documents in terms of the information they present to young researchers with a sincere rhetoric. These sources, which present sections of the daily lives of successful people in their field, mention important cultural events and works of the period, bear witness to history. In this study, the book “Memories Letters of Mehmet Kaplan” by Orhan Okay, one of the important names in the field of New Turkish Literature, is examined. The letters and the memories shared with the reader reflect the efforts of Mehmet Kaplan and Orhan Okay for their ideals and serve as a guide particularly for young researchers in terms of reflecting both the indispensable principles of the academic identity and the prerequisites for writing a good work. Mehmet Kaplan provides crucial information about the artistic and cultural activities of the period while talking about domestic and foreign sources in his letters to his assistant Orhan Okay. Having a rich culture and nourished from different fields such as poetry, music, psychology, history and philosophy, Kaplan tells about the adventures of publishing various magazines and books in his letters. Orhan Okay, with the explanations and notes written by his teacher about the letters, makes a great contribution to the reader to get to know the people mentioned in the letters and to understand the events. The letters, which sincerely convey the relationship between Mehmet Kaplan and Orhan Okay regarding the construction of the identity of scientist and teacher, shed light on the inner world of academics, who are the representatives of an important school. In this study, while determining the artistic and cultural events and works in the book titled Memories Letters from Mehmet Kaplan, attention is drawn to the names that were influential in the construction of the scholar and instructor identity of Mehmet Kaplan and Orhan Okay. The letters, which include important personalities in fields such as philosophy and literature, discuss how the cultural atmosphere of the period was reflected.
