Abstract:
Soil improvement is preferred when the engineering properties of the soils in the project site do not meet sufficient criteria. In recent years, studies on improving the strength parameters and permeability properties of soils by using different waste materials have been increasing. The waste materials used are generally materials such as lime, cement, bitumen, fly ash, resin, glass fibers and rubber particles. In terms of engineering properties, bearing capacity and permeability are the most important parameters to be considered. In this study, as a new solution proposal, in order to determine the usability of pipe powder which is the waste of pipe factories, permeability tests were carried out by mixing 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, 12% 14%, 16%, 18%, 20% and 22% by weight into the sand. As a result of the study, it was determined that permeability decreased by up to 19 times in soils which were improved by using waste pipe powder.
